Lisbon, Aug. 26, 2026 (Lusa) - The Portuguese television series «3000 Depois de Cristo" and «Madrugada Suja» and the radio programme «Semibreve – Intertextualidade», all produced by RTP, have been nominated for the Europa 2026 Awards, the state broadcaster announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, RTP reported that the series «3000 Depois de Cristo" [After Christ], available on RTP Play, has been nominated in the Digital Media category, whilst «Madrugada Suja» [Dirty Dawn], recently broadcast on RTP 1, has been nominated in the Video Fiction category.

«3000 After Christ» comprises 10 distinct stories, told in a documentary style and set in the year 3000. The RTP Lab series was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and «offers a social critique that imagines, but also questions, the future», adds the RTP statement.

Meanwhile, «Madrugada Suja» is «a loose television adaptation, in series format, of the work by Miguel Sousa Tavares», directed by Sebastião Salgado and produced by Maria & Mayer.

Starring Rafael Morais and Vitória Guerra, it «follows the investigation of a crime that exposes a complex web of corruption, power and economic interests in a dramatic thriller marked by environmental issues and moral dilemmas».

«Semibreve - Intertextualidade» is an Antena 2 programme created by Andrea Lupi and has been nominated in the audiomusic category.

«The programme brings together music and various artistic references in a space for discovery and reflection on musical creation and its many forms of dialogue with other artistic expressions», adds the RTP press release.

The winners of the awards will be announced in October at a ceremony to be held in Berlin.

The Europa Awards were established in 1987 by the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Cultural Foundation, and are now «the most influential pan-European broadcasting festival» aimed at promoting «the quality of broadcasting across a changing continent».
