Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks close about half a per cent higher, unlike most European bourses

Lisbon, Aug. 20, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Thursday, with the PSI index rising 0.48% to 9,282.81 points, against a largely mixed backdrop across Europe.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the PSI, nine rose, and seven fell.

Leading the gains was Galp, which rose 1.44% to €21.77.

Other notable gainers included EDP, which rose by 1.20% to €4.65, EDP Renováveis, which gained 1.04% to €13.55, and REN, which rose by 1% to €3.55.

Navigator (€3.24), BCP (€1.09), Corticeira Amorim (€6.78), Semapa (€20.30) and CTT (€6.33) each rose by less than 1%.

At the other end of the scale, Ibersol led the fallers, dropping 1.59% to €9.88.

Also of note were Jerónimo Martins, which fell by 1.11% to €16.99, Teixeira Duarte, which dropped by 1.04% to €0.48, and Sonae SGPS, which fell by 1% to €1.98.

Posting gains of less than 1% were Altri (€4.71), Mota-Engil (€4.47) and NOS (€4.83).

Elsewhere in Europe, Paris fell by 0.57%, Frankfurt by 0.41% and Madrid by 0.18%, whilst London rose by 0.04%.
