Lisbon, Aug. 19, 2026 (Lusa) - Emergency services took more than 30 people to hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a case of food poisoning, including 26 pupils from the Colégio dos Salesianos in Lisbon.
According to a source from the Greater Lisbon Sub-Regional Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) speaking to Lusa, the alert was raised at 12:10 a.m., and, in addition to the 26 pupils, six adults also went to hospital.
Thirteen vehicles and 26 personnel from the fire service and Portugal's National Medical Emergency Institute (INEM) were at the scene, and they took the victims to Santa Maria, Dona Estefânia and Fernando da Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra) hospitals.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the food poisoning.
