Lisbon, Aug. 17, 2026 (Lusa) - Managers' concerns about government and politics increased in July, but the international situation continued to top the list of concerns, according to a survey by the Forum of Company Directors and Managers (FAE).
«The international situation tops the list of Portuguese managers' main concerns», and although there was a slight decrease of 1.9% compared with the previous month, «it is cited as a priority in 43.4% of responses», the statement reads.
The biggest change compared with June's results was seen in the ‘Government and Politics' category, now at 16.9%, signalling a rise of 5.3%.
For managers, Talent Recruitment and Retention is the third-biggest concern, standing at 12%, whilst Competition and Business Model and Taxation and Fiscal Policy share fourth place, both at 7.2%.
Logistics and Supply Chains, and Legislation and Regulation «are tied at 3.6%, with the former rising by 0.4% and the latter falling by 2.7%», according to the results of the FAE's monthly barometer.
Finally, Digitalisation and Technological Disruption, Corruption, and Interest Rates and Inflation, all at 1.2%, are «of lesser importance amongst managers' main concerns».
This analysis also includes data on the Managers' Optimism Index, which rose to 3.1 from 2.42 in June, approaching the year's highest figure (3.22), recorded in May.
