NNA - Culture Minister Ghassan Salameh met MP Bilal Abdullah, accompanied by Chhim Mayor Tarek Shaaban and Dr. Nidal Shaaban, head of the Iqlim Al-Kharroub Festivals Committee, to discuss cultural heritage and tourism initiatives in the region.

The meeting focused on the restoration and protection of the Roman Palace of Chhim, including ongoing works to reinforce and preserve the archaeological site in order to safeguard its historical significance and enhance its cultural and tourism value.

The delegation also briefed the minister on preparations for the International Heritage Village Festival, scheduled for 2027, and invited him to patronize the event, describing it as a major cultural initiative that would showcase the region’s heritage while promoting tourism and cultural activity in Iqlim Al-Kharroub.

The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and local authorities to protect Chhim’s archaeological and cultural heritage and support initiatives that preserve Lebanon’s historical legacy.
