TIRANA, Aug. 4 /ATA/ – Albanian authorities deployed 727 operational personnel over the past 24 hours to combat 20 wildfire outbreaks across different parts of the country, Defence Minister Ermal Nufi said on Tuesday.
Supporting local emergency response teams were 128 members of the Albanian Armed Forces, along with two fire engines, one ambulance and three Air Force helicopters, Nufi said.
The Minister praised the efforts of firefighters, military personnel and other emergency responders involved in the firefighting operations, thanking those who have been deployed since the start of the summer wildfire season.
He also expressed gratitude for their “professionalism, courage and unwavering dedication” in protecting lives, communities and the country’s natural heritage.
Albania experiences an elevated risk of wildfires during the hot, dry summer months, with firefighters and the armed forces regularly called in to support local authorities during major outbreaks.
