ANSA - Italy's GDP grew by 0.2% in second quarter says Istat

Statistics agency ups growth forecast for 2026 as a whole to 0.8%

Italy's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 0.2% in the second quarter of this year with respect to the previous three months and by 1.0% compared to the same quarter in 2025, according to preliminary data released by Istat on Thursday.
    The national statistics agency said the year-on-year growth figure was up from 0.8% in the first quarter.
    It added that it has revised up its forecast for Italian growth for 2026 as a whole by 0.2 of a percentage point from 0.6% to 0.8%.
    Istat said growth was driven by the service sector, while agriculture and industry were slowing.
    It added that foreign demand is slowing, while the contribution of domestic demand is increasing.
