Macau, China, July 14, 2026 (Lusa) - Macau authorities announced on Tuesday that several South Korean Yopokki-branded instant snacks are being withdrawn from supermarkets in the territory, after the Irish Food Safety Authority warned of potential health risks posed by these products.
The body responsible for ensuring food safety in Ireland announced that batches of ten Yopokki products “are being recalled due to possible contamination”.
In a statement, Macau’s Institute for Municipal Affairs (IAM) indicated that it had taken note of the announcement that Yopokki products, “including rice balls and instant noodles with rice balls in a cup, may be at risk of contamination, and announced that “the recall of the products is underway locally”.
Noting that it continues to monitor the situation, the IAM “called on the sector to cease the supply and sale of the products if they are held in stock”.
Affected batches include products such as Yopokki Ricecake Cup Cheese flavour; Yopokki Ricecake Cup Sweet & Spicy flavour; and Yopokki Ricecake Cup Jjajang, amongst others.
The IAM also urged consumers not to consume these products “if they were purchased online, through intermediaries or via other channels”.
