NNA - General Coordinator of the National Campaign for the Return of Syrian Displaced Persons, Maroun el-Khoury, stated that the campaign is closely monitoring with deep concern the rapidly unfolding security and military developments along the Lebanese-Syrian border, amid reports by regional and international media of military reinforcements and movements in the Qalamoun region and along the shared border.

He called on the Lebanese Cabinet, the Higher Defense Council, and the Lebanese Army Command to raise the level of military and security readiness along the country’s borders, reinforce preventive and preemptive measures, and respond decisively to any developments on the ground to prevent the imposition of any new reality on Lebanon.

He concluded: "The Lebanese people will not accept a return to the era of foreign tutelage or the transformation of their country once again into a battleground for settling regional scores. We call on all to unite behind the institutions of the state."
