NNA - Prime Minister Nawaf Salam issued Sunday Administrative Memorandum No. 17/2026 declaring an official period of mourning following the passing of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Describing the late Sheikh Hamad as "a great friend of Lebanon", the Council of Ministers' memorandum announced that flags will be flown at half-mast at all public administrations, institutions, and municipalities. Radio and television stations have also been instructed to adjust their regular programming in keeping with the solemn occasion.

The official mourning period takes effect immediately and will continue through Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The memorandum concluded with a prayer that God Almighty grant the late Sheikh Hamad His vast mercy and admit him into His vast Heavens.
