Praia, June 29, 2026 (Lusa) - Hotels in Cabo Verde welcomed 379,657 guests in the first quarter, an increase of 16.8% compared with the same period in 2025, the National Statistics Institute (INE) announced on Monday.
Over the same period, the total number of overnight stays rose by 4.1% to over 1.7 million.
Hotels remain the most popular type of accommodation (81.9% of demand) and non-residents continue to account for the vast majority of tourist demand (96.4% of demand).
The United Kingdom remained the main source market, with 92,433 guests recorded in the first quarter of 2026, representing around a quarter of the total.
The bed occupancy rate stood at 65% (one percentage point lower than the 66% recorded in the first quarter of 2025).
Tourism is the driving force behind the archipelago’s economy, and the figures confirm a growth trend observed in recent years, accelerated by the increase in air links with Europe.
