Lisbon, May 29, 2026 (Lusa) – The Lisbon stock market closed in negative territory on Friday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) falling 0.12% to 9,076.53 points with Corticeira Amorim leading the losses, retreating more than 2%.
Eight of the 16 listed companies in the national benchmark index closed the session down, while the remaining eight finished in the green.
Corticeira Amorim led the PSI losses, retreating 2.24% to €6.54, followed by Altri, which shed 1.49% to €4.95.
Other companies in the pulp and paper sector also fell, with Semapa losing 1.04% to €23.75 and Navigator depreciating 0.64% to €3.40.
Heavyweights within the benchmark index also registered losses, as EDP fell 1.15% to €4.37 and Jerónimo Martins retreated 0.82% to €18.16.
Mota-Engil counteracted the trend and prevented more significant index losses, with its shares rising 1.37% to €4.75, alongside several energy sector companies.
Galp Energia added 0.62% to €18.63, EDP Renováveis rose 0.50% to €14.17, and REN appreciated 0.14% to €3.54 within the energy sector.
NOS recorded gains above 1%, rising 1.06% to €5.27.
Major European markets closed mixed, with Spain's IBEX-35 rising 0.45% and Germany's DAX appreciating 0.05%, while Britain's FTSE 100 retreated 0.09% and France's CAC-40 lost 0.07%.
