Lisbon, May 28, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Thursday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) falling 0.53% to 9,087.82 points, on a day when construction firms Mota-Engil, Teixeira Duarte and Jerónimo Martins led the losses.
Of the 16 listed companies included in the PSI, 12 ended the session in negative territory and the remaining four in positive territory.
Leading the falls was Teixeira Duarte, which fell 2.51% to €0.43, followed by Jerónimo Martins, which dropped 2.50% to €18.31, and Mota-Engil, which lost 2.13% to €4.69.
Also recording losses of over 1% was CTT, which fell 1.53% to €6.09.
Among the ‘heavyweights’, Galp Energia rose 0.43% to €18.52, as did EDP Renováveis, which gained 0.42% to €14.10.
BCP, in particular, bucked the trend and helped the PSI avoid more significant losses, with its shares rising by 0.39% to €0.97.
In the other major European markets, the UK’s FTSE 100 lost 0.75%, Spain’s IBEX-35 fell 0.55%, Germany’s DAX dropped 0.34% and France’s CAC-40 fell 0.23%.
