Lisbon, May 5, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed flat on Tuesday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) falling 0.04% to 9,164.62 points, weighed down by EDP’s fall of more than 5% and against a largely positive European backdrop.

Of the 16 listed companies included in the PSI, six closed in negative territory, two were unchanged, and the remaining eight were in the green.

Weighing on the national benchmark index was EDP, whose shares fell 5.25% to €4.35.

Also among the heavyweights, Jerónimo Martins fell by 0.3% to €19.83 on the eve of its results' announcement, as did Galp Energia, which lost 0.1% to €19.85.

In contrast, and avoiding more significant falls, Corticeira Amorim led the way, with its shares rising 5.16% to €6.73, minutes before announcing its results to the market.

Corticeira Amorim’s profit fell by 6.5% to €15.4 million in Q1 year-on-year, with sales down 8% to €211 million, impacted by the “challenging environment and exchange rate effects”.

In the opposite direction, EDP Renováveis rose 1.72% to €14.2, and BCP rose 1.32% to €0.89.

Also worth mentioning are the listed companies linked to the pulp and paper sector: Semapa rose 2.18% to €23.45, whilst Navigator rose 1.14% to €3.36.

In the other major European markets, Spain’s IBEX-35 rose by 1.8%, Germany’s DAX advanced by 1.71% and France’s CAC-40 gained 1.08%, while the UK’s FTSE 100 fell by 1.4%.
