Lisbon, April 21, 2026 (Lusa) – The Lisbon stock market was trading in the red an hour and a half after Tuesday's opening bell, in contrast to the rest of Europe.
By 9.30 a.m in Lisbon, the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) was losing 0.11%, falling to 9,167.44 points, while major European markets moved into positive territory. Seven stocks in Lisbon were rising, eight falling, and EDP Renováveis remained unchanged from its opening price of €13.33.
EDP was leading the losses, dropping 0.59% to €4.40, followed by Ibersol, which was down 0.48% to €12.32, and Jerónimo Martins, down 0.47% to €21.04. Navigator recorded losses of 0.24% to €3.37, while NOS fell 0.18% to €5.58 and REN dipped 0.13% to €3.75. Altri (-0.10% to €4.85) and CTT (-0.08% to €6.51) saw more modest declines.
In contrast, Mota-Engil saw the highest gain, rising 0.98% to €4.93, followed by Corticeira Amorim (0.61% to €6.64) and Semapa (0.45% to €22.55). Sonae (0.20% to €1.96), BCP (0.18% to €0.89), Galp (0.16% to €18.93), and Teixeira Duarte (0.12% to €0.43) were also trading in the green.
European markets opened higher on Tuesday, except for Paris, as uncertainty persists regarding the resumption of peace negotiations between the US and Iran.
Following strong gains on Monday, Brent crude for June delivery, the European benchmark, fell 0.04% to US$95.43. In the energy market, the price of TTF natural gas dropped 0.81% to €39.27 per megawatt-hour.
On the currency markets, the euro is weaker, trading at US$1.177, while bitcoin fell 0.49% to US$75,943. Gold dropped 0.53% to US$4,982.6 an ounce, and silver declined 1.32% to US$78.97.
