Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Seven Portuguese firms at Singapore food, hospitality trade fair

Porto, Portugal, April 20, 2026 (Lusa) – Seven Portuguese companies are taking part in the FHA – Food & Hospitality Asia trade fair in Singapore from Tuesday to Friday, an event regarded as “one of Asia’s leading platforms” for food, drink and hospitality, the Portuguese Business Association (AEP) announced on Monday.

The AEP, which organises the Portuguese participation through the Business on the Way (BOW) internationalisation project, describes FHA as a "benchmark platform in the Asia-Pacific region". The event combines three complementary fairs, FHA - Food & Beverage, FHA - HoReCa, and ProWine Singapore, to create a "unique networking ecosystem for global operators."

The AEP will host the Portugal Pavilion within FHA – Food & Beverage to promote the excellence of the national sector. The previous edition featured over 1,650 exhibitors from 47 countries and nearly 48,000 professional visitors. The association views the event as a "privileged entry point into highly competitive markets."

Meanwhile, FHA - HoReCa serves as the primary event for hospitality, restaurant, and catering professionals, bringing together suppliers of equipment, technology and innovative solutions.

The 2026 edition of this trade fair is expected to exceed 80,000 visitors and 2,700 exhibitors from over 100 countries, with a strong presence of international buyers.

ProWine Singapore, holding its 6th edition as part of the FHA, is described as "a strategic platform for the wine and spirits sector". It brings together producers, distributors, and experts in what the AEP believes will be "a privileged showcase for Portuguese wines in Asia."

The Chair of AEP said in a press release that FHA “represents a crucial opportunity to demonstrate the quality and distinctiveness of Portuguese companies to international decision-makers”.

"We are talking about a demanding market, but one with enormous growth potential for our exports," said Luís Miguel Ribeiro, emphasising that the presence organised by AEP “enables Portuguese companies to approach this market on a larger scale, with greater visibility and the capacity to secure business deals”.

"Joint participation in these three events represents a strategic lever for the internationalisation of the domestic sector, facilitating entry into and expansion within highly dynamic markets," he said.

The association highlighted several key attractions, including FHA's position as a leading trade fair in Asia and Singapore's role as a global logistical and commercial hub. Its geostrategic location and sustained tourism growth in Southeast Asia also drive demand for differentiated food products.

AEP has been bringing companies to this market since 2007 and has participated in FHA since 2012. Seven Portuguese companies will join the 2026 edition: Ferneto (bakery and pastry machinery), Icel - Indústria de Cutelarias da Estremadura (industrial cutlery), João Rodrigues Pereira (coffee industry technology), Novadelta (coffee and tea industry), Quinta Vale D'Aldeia (wines), RST - Construtora de Máquinas e Acessórios (food, beverage, and tobacco machinery), and Sociedade Panificadora Costa & Ferreira (bakery).

The BOW project completed a total of 22 initiatives to support business internationalisation in 2025. These included 14 participations in international trade fairs and eight business missions, covering 21 markets and involving 150 Portuguese companies.
