Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Lisbon metro strike scheduled for Tuesday called off - union

Lisbon, April 13, 2026 (Lusa) - Metro workers in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, on Monday called off a 24-hour strike planned for Tuesday, a union source told Lusa.

The source said the union had reached an agreement with the company that guarantees several conditions initially requested in the strike notice.

The decision follows a previous strike on Thursday where all targeted professional categories participated, forcing the service to close.

After meeting the company’s management on Monday, the union said "conditions were met to suspend" the strike.

Sara Gligo, a leader at the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS), told Lusa the company "finally accepted" a deal to stop the strike by operational heads, which includes staff at the Central Command Post, the Central Command Room, and the Power and Traction Command, who are the teams managing train traffic and power supply.
