Lisbon, April 1, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the PSI rising 1.84% to 9,299.86 points, following the trend seen on other European markets and driven by gains from Mota-Engil and Teixeira Duarte, which rose by 6.64% and 9.25% respectively.
Of the 16 listed companies included in benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 14 closed in positive territory and only two in the red.
Leading the gains were two listed companies linked to the construction sector: Mota-Engil rose 6.64% to €4.72, whilst Teixeira Duarte gained 9.25% to €0.45 per share.
Also posting gains of over 2% were CTT, which rose 5.80% to €6.38, BCP, which rose 4.90% to €0.87, EDP, which advanced 2.76% to €4.65, and Sonae SGPS, which gained 2.09% to €1.95.
Bucking the trend and recording losses were only Galp Energia, which fell 3.14% to €20.35, and Ibersol, which dropped 0.46% to €10.75.
Lisbon mirrored the sentiment seen in the other major European markets, on a day when Spain’s IBEX-35 rose by 3.11%, Germany’s DAX advanced by 2.73%, France’s CAC-40 climbed by 2.10% and the UK’s FTSE 100 gained 1.85%.
