Lisbon, March 30, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock exchange was trading higher on Monday, with Galp leading the gains, rising 1.66% to €20.81. The PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) maintained its opening trend, climbing 0.66% to 8,940.91 points, at around 09:15 a.m. with nine companies rising, four falling and three remaining unchanged (BCP at €0.81, Ibersol at €10.80 and NOS at €5.36).
Galp shares were followed by those of EDP, REN and Navigator, which rose 1.38% to €4.41, 1.36% to €3.73 and 0.97% to €3.33, respectively.
EDP Renováveis also rose, with Semapa and Sonae gaining 0.76% to €13.19, 0.46% to €21.65 and 0.22% to €1.56, respectively.
Altri and Jerónimo Martins rose by 0.11% to €4.74 and 0.10% to €20.22.
Contrarily, Corticeira Amorim and Teixeira Duarte fell by 0.62% to €6.39 and by 0.49% to €0.40, respectively; Mota-Engil (-0.28% to €4.30) and CTT (-0.17% to €5.82).
Major European markets opened mixed on Monday as the conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran enters its second month, with the price of a barrel of Brent Crude, the European benchmark, at $116.
The euro remained stable, falling 0.02% to $1.1508 on the Frankfurt foreign market, compared with $1.1509 on Friday.
The market remains dominated by a trio of concerns: geopolitics, energy and interest rates.
The surge in Brent Crude has reignited inflationary risks, putting fresh pressure on central banks, which may be forced to reconsider interest rate hikes to combat rising prices.
The price of Brent Crude Oil for May delivery rose by 3.06% to $116.04.
Natural gas for April delivery on the Dutch TFF (Title Transfer Facility) market, the European benchmark, rose by 2.49% to €55.525 per megawatt-hour (MWh).
Precious metals slightly increased: gold rose 0.82% to $4,530.83 an ounce, whilst silver rose 0.98% to $70.44.
US index futures point to gains of 0.24% for the Nasdaq and 0.16% for the Dow Jones, after closing down 2.15% and 1.73%, respectively, on Friday.
Donald Trump, the US president, said on Sunday that Iran would allow 20 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday as a "gift" and a "sign of respect" for the United States.
He also said that negotiations with Iran were progressing, expressing confidence that both countries would reach an agreement very soon.
