NNA - Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, on Thursday said that Egypt stands in "full solidarity" with Lebanon, following talks with President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, at Baabda Palace.
Abdelatty said he had conveyed a message from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirming Egypt’s "complete support, leadership, government and people, for Lebanon in these difficult circumstances."
The Egyptian official added that Egypt "strongly condemns the daily Israeli violations that undermine Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," stressing the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and ensuring a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.
The Egyptian minister affirmed Cairo’s readiness to "meet all of Lebanon’s needs," noting that he arrived with a humanitarian shipment including medical and food aid to support the Lebanese population, particularly the displaced.
The Minister also expressed concern over internal displacement, describing it as "deeply worrying," while voicing confidence in the resilience of the Lebanese people and their ability to preserve civil peace.
Abdelatty further said Egypt is providing "full political and diplomatic backing" to Lebanon, adding that Cairo is engaged in intensive contacts with regional and international actors, including the United States and France, to de-escalate tensions and halt ongoing attacks.
He reiterated Egypt’s "complete rejection of ground incursions and Israeli violations that contravene international law," calling for their immediate cessation.
Abdelatty concluded by stressing that Egypt is continuing its contacts with all parties in efforts to secure a ceasefire and prevent broader regional instability, underscoring the need to support Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army, in asserting state authority and ensuring that arms remain exclusively under state control.
