Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Lisbon stock market closes higher, Mota-Engil, Sonae rise over 5%

Lisbon, March 23, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed up on Monday, rising 0.25% to 8,778.51 points, following the European trend, with Mota-Engil and Sonae gaining more than 5%.

Of the 16 listed companies in the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 11 rose, four fell and NOS closed unchanged at €5.25.

Mota-Engil led the session’s gains, jumping 5.88% to €4.29, followed by Sonae, which rose 5.63% to €1.84. CTT closed up 4.54% at €5.99 and Teixeira Duarte rose 3.95% to €0.42.

Altri rose 2.86% to €4.67 and BCP gained 2.74% to €0.80. Companies rising more than 1% included Ibersol (1.89% to €10.8), Semapa (1.69% to €21), and Corticeira Amorim (1.30% to €6.25). EDP (+0.59% to €4.30) and Navigator (+0.13% to €3.17) also finished in positive territory. Galp led the falls, dropping 4.74% to €20.31, followed by REN, which lost 1.86% to €3.70. EDP Renováveis and Jerónimo Martins also closed in negative territory, with falls of 1.54% to €12.75 and 1.09% to €19.96, respectively.

The main European stock markets closed mostly higher, with the exception of London, which fell 0.24%. Paris rose 0.79%, Frankfurt 1.22%, Madrid 1.04% and Milan 0.81%.

European bourses reversed their trend during the day, trading higher as oil prices fell significantly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced talks with Tehran and a possible ceasefire in the Middle East.
