The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) recorded an annual increase in February 2026, while remaining broadly stable on a monthly basis, according to data released on Wednesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
The HICP rose by 0.94% in February 2026 compared to February 2025, while it recorded a marginal decrease of 0.01% compared to January 2026.
On an annual basis, the largest increases were observed in the categories of Recreation, Sports and Culture (5.4%) and Restaurants and Accommodation Services (4.9%). In contrast, the biggest decreases were recorded in Clothing and Footwear (-6.2%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (-3.5%).
Compared to January 2026, the largest changes were recorded in Clothing and Footwear (0.8%), while Housing, Water, Electricity and Fuels declined by 0.5%.
By economic category, the largest annual change was observed in Energy, which decreased by 8.4%, while Services increased by 4.2%. On a monthly basis, Energy declined by 0.9%.
Additionally, annual increases were recorded in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (2.7%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (1.2%), and Education (3.4%). Smaller increases were noted in Health (0.3%) and other categories of goods and services.
On the other hand, apart from energy and clothing, decreases were also recorded in Transport (-1.4%) and Information and Communication (-2.5%).
For the period January – February 2026, the overall HICP increased by 1.08% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
