Lisbon, March 16, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed down 0.15% to 9,129.84 points on Monday, bucking the trend in the rest of Europe, weighed down by the energy, construction, and paper sectors. Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), 10 rose and six fell.
The company that fell the most was EDP Renováveis, with a drop of 1.69% to €13.27, followed by Navigator, which fell 1.45% to €3.27. Also down were Teixeira Duarte (1.35% to €0.44), Altri (1.27% to €4.66), Mota-Engil (0.68% to €4.37), and EDP (0.48% to €4.38). Mota-Engil submitted a request to court for summary dismissal of the civil action brought against it by the American company Muddy Waters, asking for the conviction of the company and its chief executive officer for defamation, according to a statement released on Saturday. Leading the gains were CTT, which advanced 1.49% to €6.79, followed by Ibersol, which gained 0.93% to €10.85. Also closing higher were Corticeira Amorim (0.63% to €6.37), Jerónimo Martins (0.63% to €22.46), Semapa (0.47% to €21.55), BCP (0.35% to €0.79), Galp (0.29% to €20.70 euros), REN (0.26% to €3.86), NOS (0.19% to €5.37), and Sonae (0.10% to €1.98).
The main European markets closed Monday higher, with London advancing 0.55%, Paris 0.31%, Frankfurt 0.50%, Madrid 0.18%, and Milan 0.07%.
