TIRANA, March 8 /ATA/ During the ‘Flasim’ podcast, Prime Minister Edi Rama brought up again the release of his book ‘At the Moon’s Table’ (Në Sofrën e Hënës), a collection of his reflections from the traditional iftar evenings he has hosted over the years.
The Prime Minister said that, after repeated pushes from friends, believers, and Muslim practitioners, he decided to compile his reflections from the iftar dinners held during his tenure.
Rama noted that although the book was ready for the Book Fair, he opted not to present it so his public profile would not overshadow other authors.
“The book is titled ‘Në Sofrën e Hënës’. It is, so to speak, a collection of an experience I have been fortunate to live because of my position, as year after year I have hosted the prime minister’s iftar together with Linda. Through this process, I have come to understand and appreciate that the iftar table is not simply a moment for those who fast, but also a beautiful occasion that brings together people from different paths and worldviews,” Rama said.
He added that the experience of hosting iftar dinners has enabled him to gain a deeper understanding of Islamic tradition and culture, as well as the history of the Muslim Community of Albania. The work underscores the cultural, social, and spiritual dimensions of the iftar table, presenting it as a space that brings together individuals of different faiths and backgrounds, beyond the distinctions that may separate them in everyday life.
The book features an afterword by Professor Besnik Sinani of the University of Tübingen, as well as a foreword by His Excellency Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
