ANA-MPA - S&P Global: Greek PMI improves in February

Greece' seasonally adjusted S&P Global Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector closed at 54.4 points in February, slightly higher than the 54.2 points at the beginning of 2026.
According to S&P Global, the latest data indicated a sharp improvement in operating conditions at the factories of goods producers, which was the fastest recorded since August 2025.
The stronger demand conditions led to a further increase in new orders at the factories of Greek manufacturers in February. The growth rate was generally strong and the sharpest recorded since August 2025. The recovery was also attributed to successful advertising initiatives and increased construction activity.
However, sales to international markets fell in the middle of the first quarter as new export orders fell for the first time in three months, due to reports of weaker demand from abroad.
Manufacturers recorded a continued increase in production levels in February, extending the current period of continuous growth recorded since October 2024. Moreover, the growth rate recorded an 11-month high.
The increase in production requirements, according to the survey, triggered another round of job creation and increased purchasing activity. Although the rise in input markets accelerated due to less noticeable pressure on the supply chain, difficulties in finding suitably qualified personnel hindered efforts to recruit workers. The rate of job creation hit a five-month low, but remained historically high.
