NNA - The 'Mona Bustros Foundation' inaugurated on Sunday a mural titled "Like a Phoenix, Beirut Will Rise Again" to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the Beirut port explosion. The mural symbolizes Beirut's resilience and hope for renewal following one of Lebanon's deadliest disasters.

The ceremony, featuring a musical performance by the Hamazkayin Association, was attended by Information Minister, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, MPs Nicolas Sehnaoui, Nadim Gemayel, and Edgar Traboulsi, alongside lawmakers, military and security representatives, political and religious figures, municipal officials, and families of victims and survivors of the August 4, 2020 blast.

In a brief word marking the anniversary, MP Sehnaoui thanked attendees for taking part in the commemoration and called on the Lebanese to remember the tragedy, honor resilience, and hold on to hope for Beirut's renewal.

Sehnaoui said that while political differences are natural in Lebanon, the country must remain united around fundamental moral values, stressing that essential national principles should bring people together rather than divide them. Recalling the explosion as a "crime against all of Lebanon," Sehnaoui stressed that accountability must remain a national priority.

He noted that the Phoenix mural was first installed in 2018 as a message to the world that Lebanon was entering a period of economic prosperity. However, just two years later, the Beirut port explosion devastated the capital. He added that, six years on, the once-destroyed area has come back to life despite the severe economic crisis that struck Lebanon, which the World Bank has described as one of the worst economic crises in modern history.

MP Sehnaoui reaffirmed commitment to honoring the victims by continuing efforts to uncover the truth and secure justice.

He concluded by emphasizing that, regardless of the challenges facing the country, Lebanon will continue to rebuild "like the Phoenix," calling it a symbol of the nation's resilience and enduring spirit.
