Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark índex up 0.25% driven by EDP group

Lisbon, Feb. 24, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Tuesday, with the PSI rising 0.25% to 9,269.17 points, driven by gains in the EDP group, with BCP holding back more significant gains.

Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), eight companies closed in positive territory and the remaining eight in the red, on a day when the PSI reached a new high since June 2008.

Leading the PSI's gains were the listed companies of the EDP group. EDP Renováveis rose 2.27% to €13.50, while the parent company gained 2.03% to €4.42.

Ibersol SGPS also posted gains of more than 1%, rising 1.33% to €11.45.

On the other hand, BCP led the way in curbing more significant gains, falling 1.76% to €0.91.

Also among the PSI heavyweights weighing on the national stock market was Galp Energia, which fell 0.83% to €18.42.

In the other main European markets, Spain's IBEX-35 fell 0.54%, the UK's FTSE 100 fell 0.04% and Germany's DAX fell 0.02%, while France's CAC-40 rose 0.26%.
