Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark at highs not seen since June 2008

Lisbon, Feb. 18, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark index reaching its highest level since 26 June 2008, following the European trend and advancing 0.76% to 9,142.99 points, boosted by Mota-Engil, which rose 4.12%.

The 16 companies included in the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) 13 rose and 3 fell.

Civil engineering and construction group Mota-Engil was the company that rose the most, closing at €5.15, followed by BCP bank, which advanced 2.78% to €0.90.

With rises of more than 1% were Teixeira Duarte (+1.92% to €0.53), Sonae (+1.87% to €1.96), Galp (+1.78% to €18.32), NOS (+1.76% to €4.92) and Semapa (+1.06% to €23.85).

With more moderate rises were Altri (+0.63% to €4.97), Corticeira Amorim (+0.29% to €7), EDP Renováveis (+0.23% to €13.35), EDP (+0.14% to €4.35) and Navigator (+0.06% to €3.38).

In the opposite direction, REN closed down by 1.57% to €3.76, Jerónimo Martins fell 1.22% to €21.10 and Ibersol dropped 0.88% to €11.25.

The main indexes on European markets closed higher today, led by Madrid and Milan, which advanced 1.35% and 1.30%, respectively. London (+1.23%), Paris (+0.81%) and Frankfurt (+1.12%) also rose.
