Serie A's bottom side Hellas Verona said Monday that they have sacked coach Paolo Zanetti after Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Cagliari.
The club said academy coach Paolo Sammarco would take over provisionally until a permanent replacement is found.
Verona have 14 points from 23 games, four fewer than Lecce, who are 17th and one place above the relegation zone.
It is Serie A's sixth change of coach so far this season.
Fellow strugglers Pisa, who are level on points with Verona, sacked Alberto Gilardino at the weekend after they lost 3-1 at home to Sassuolo.
Atalanta replaced Ivan Juric with Raffaele Palladino in November and their form has improved significantly since.
Juric was dismissed days after Fiorentina sacked Stefano Pioli and brought in Paolo Vanoli.
Daniele De Rossi replaced Patrick Vieira on the Genoa bench in November too.
Juventus were the first team to pull the trigger this season, firing Igor Tudor at the end of October and putting former Italy boss Luciano Spalletti in charge.
