ALGIERS, 18 January 2026 (APS) -Algeria ranked first globally in terms of the number of activities organized during the 17th Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), the Ministry of the Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-Enterprises said on Sunday, based on data from the Global Entrepreneurship Network.

The 17th edition which took place from 17 to 23 November 2025, witnessed the organization of 58,750 activities in Algeria, topping the global ranking, followed by Ethiopia (20,032 activities) and Brazil (7,400 activities), according to the network’s figures.

This global leadership came "as a crowning of efforts made during Global Entrepreneurship Week, where this edition was organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, and witnessed broad participation that included various actors in the national entrepreneurship ecosystem, from ministerial sectors as well as support and accompaniment bodies, startups, micro-enterprises, in addition to national and international partners," said the ministry in a press release.

This edition constituted "a strong indicator of national mobilization for this international event, reflecting the growing interest in entrepreneurship and embodying its slogan "Together We Build," according to the same source.
