ANSA - Cinema: Zalone's Buen Camino sets new festive box office record

Comedy grosses almost 59 million euros in just 13 days

Italian comedian, actor and screenwriter Checco Zalone's new film, Buen Camino, has set a new record to become the most successful Italian movie at the box office over the festive period.
    The picture grossed almost 59 million euros (58,896,398) in 13 days after being released on Christmas Day, bagging 65.8% of all of Italian cinema-goers in this period.
    Directed by Gennaro Nunziante, it is the story of a vain, superficial millionaire played by Zalone who learns who to become a good father by doing the Camino de Santiago with his teenage daughter, It is now the second-biggest Italian hit at the box office after another Zalone-Nunziante film, Quo Vado?, which grossed 65.3 million euros after being released on New Year's Day in 2016.
    It is third high-grossing movie in Italy overall behind only Quo Vado? and Avatar, which made 68.6 million euros here.
