Migrant landings to Italy fell 0.48% in 2025, the interior ministry said Wednesday.
Some 66,296 irregular migrants landed by sea on Italian coasts in 2025, according to the annual immigration assessment released by the Viminale.
This figure is slightly lower (-0.48%) than in 2024, when arrivals were 66,617.
Compared to 2023, this represents a 57.95% decrease: two years ago, there were 157,651 arrivals.
Regarding the countries of origin, 1,812 people arrived by sea from Algeria, a 31% increase compared to last year when there were 1,383 and a 192.3% increase compared to 2023 when 620 arrived.
From Tunisia, 4,841 people disembarked, a 75.1% decrease compared to 2024 (19,460) and a 95% decrease compared to 2023 (97,667).
From Libya, 58,408 arrivals were recorded, a 38.1% increase compared to 2024 (42,279) and a 12.4% increase compared to 2023 (51,986).
The number of Bangladeshi citizens increased both compared to 2024 (+41%) and 2023 (+58%).
Egyptians increased in number compared to 2024 (+108%) and decreased in number compared to 2023 (-21%).
Eritrean citizens also increased both compared to 2024 (+251%) and the previous year (+80%).
Finally, migrants from Pakistan increased compared to last year (+27%) and decreased compared to 2023 (-44%).
