Serie A President Ezio Simonelli has confirmed that the league is pressing ahead with its controversial plan for February's league match between AC Milan and Como to be played outside Italy in the Australian city of Perth.
Serie A has moved the game so that it does not clash with the opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics at the San Siro on February 6.
"Milan-Como will be played in Perth on February 8," Simonelli said on Thursday.
"I spoke to (FIFA president Gianni) Infantino in a very cordial meeting.
"We had doubts about the obligations imposed on us, particularly the requirement to use foreign referees, but (FIFA Referees Committee chairman Pierluigi) Collina gave us reassurances about their abilities".
Some players have expressed opposition to the prospect of a Serie A match taking place abroad and Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri said in October that he would have preferred it to be played in Italy.
