ANSA - Tajani inaugurates the 'Shared Stories' exhibit in New Delhi

Peace favours cultural and commercial ties' says foreign minister

Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Wednesday morning inaugurated an exhibited entitled "Shared Stories - An Art Journey Across Civilisation Beyond Boundaries" in New Delhi.
The show features a selection of oeuvres from the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, China, Iran and the Mediterranean area, which are part of the collections of Italian museums, highlighting shared visual codes as well as the evolution of religious and philosophical dialogue in the area over the centuries.
In his opening speech, Tajani stressed the close connection between ancient Rome and India, recalling how trade between the two areas was as crucial in the past as it is today.
"This show sheds light on the past and connects it to the present", added the foreign minister.
"It is an extraordinary example of how living in peace brings benefits all over the world.
"Italy is strongly in favour of peace, now more than ever", he noted.
The exhibit, conceived by Andrea Anastasio, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute in New Delhi, is being held at the Humayun's Tomb Museum, thanks to the cooperation between Italy's Embassy in India, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Museum of Roman Civilization, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture in Delhi, the Italian capital's Centrale Montemartini and the Archeological Survey of India.
