TIRANA, November 19/ATA/ The National Library of Albania has staged the exhibition “The Bible, collection of books”.
This exhibition opened today has put on display to the public around 100 rare Bibles and 452 biblical materials, printed from the 15th to 19th centuries in Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece and beyond, along with manuscripts and historical translations by Buzuku, Budi, Bogdani, Kristoforidhi, Qiriazi, Fan Noli and Dom Simon Filipaj.
While continuing the cycle of exhibitions that reveal the hidden treasures of the National Library of Albania’s collection, the “Bible Collection” opens to the public, a rare journey into the world of sacred books and manuscripts that have marked centuries of culture.
The exhibition is divided into two parts. In the first part, the exhibition brings to the public for the first time an impressive number of rare Bibles, over 100 of them, printed in Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece and beyond, dating from the mid-15th century to the 19th century, along with manuscripts with parts of the Holy Scriptures.
The second part deals with the translations of the Bible by Buzuku, Budi and Bogdani, then by the renaissance people and great figures, such as: Kristoforidhi, Qiriazi, Fan Noli and Dom Simon Filipaj, to the efforts of the English Bible Society in the 19th century, this exhibition combines our history, culture and written heritage.
The exhibition will be open to the public every day, from November 19 to December 19, 2025, from 09:00-20:00. /a.f/p.s./
