The Piadina sandwich has climbed the rankings of the most popular dishes among food lovers and enthusiasts of good food, topping the food and wine rankings compiled by food delivery company Deliveroo in "Deliveroo 100," an annual report on the 100 most popular products on the platform globally and the national Top 10 for 2025.
Globally, in the ranking of the 100 most popular dishes of 2025, compiled across the nine countries where the Deliveroo platform is present, bagels from Papo's Bagels in London rank first, followed by piadina from La Piadineria in Bologna.
In third place is the "Spicy Club" sandwich from Rascals Deli in Dubai.
Another Italian dish, the "No.
3 Smash Brown Menu" from Smash Tag in Rome, comes in ninth.
The 100 most popular dishes also include a comprehensive overview of the cuisines gaining traction in the delivery sector: China is well represented with stir-fry and bao, the highest-ranked dishes.
Japan is also present with gyoza, ramen, and gyudon.
The American-inspired burger is also widespread, but the most popular American dish is the lobster roll from Homer Lobster in Paris (fourth overall).
The Piadina, meanwhile, is a popular choice in Italy.
Smash Tag comes in second in the national rankings, with its signature burger: a "smashed" burger with American cheese, crispy bacon, a secret glaze, and a smoky sauce.
Kungfu Bao comes in third with its grilled beef dumplings made with dough handmade daily. The business ranks eleventh globally.
the Piadina romagnola or simply piadina, is a thin Italian flatbread, typically prepared in the Romagna historical region, which mostly consists of the Italian provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, and Rimini, and the Republic of San Marino.
It is usually made with white flour, lard or olive oil, salt, and water. The dough was traditionally cooked on a terracotta dish (locally called teggia or testo), although nowadays flat pans or electric griddles are commonly used.
Piadina has been added to the list of Traditional Agri-Food Products (PAT) of the Emilia-Romagna region, and to the protected geographical indication of the European Union in 2014.
