AS Roma beat Parma 2-1 at home on Wednesday to keep pace with Serie A leaders Napoli while Juventus defeated Udinese 3-1 in Turin to end an eight-match winless streak with caretaker coach Massimo Brambilla on the bench after they sacked Igor Tudor on Monday.
Mario Hermoso and Artem Dovbyk were on target for Roma, who have 21 points from nine games, the same as champions Napoli, who won 1-0 at Lecce on Tuesday.
Dusan Vlahovic, Federico Gatti and Kenan Yildiz scored on Wednesday for Juventus, who are tipped to appoint former Italy, Napoli, Inter and Roma boss Luciano Spalletti as their permanent replacement for Tudor.
The Turin giants are seventh with 15 points.
Inter thumped strugglers Fiorentina 3-0 at San Siro to climb to third place with 18 points.
They are ahead of city rivals AC Milan, who drew 1-1 at Atalanta on Tuesday, on goal difference.
