NNA - World Premiere of Souraya Mon Amour at 46th Cairo International Film Festival The documentary film Souraya Mon Amour will have its world premiere in the International Competition of the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, taking place from November 12 to 21, 2025. The film presents to audiences a deeply human and emotional work where art, memory, love, and absence intertwine. Between archival footage and memory reflections, dancer and actress Souraya Baghdadi revisits her life with her late husband filmmaker Maroun Baghdadi through archival whispers and tender introspection, she uncovers the haunting beauty of love that persists even in the silence of absence. The film traces a personal and poetic journey in which Souraya's intimate story converges with a creative and cinematic legacy that left a profound imprint on the history of Lebanese and Arab cinema. Souraya Mon Amour reopens windows of memory onto the journey of one of the Arab world's most prestigious filmmakers, Maroun Baghdadi, who portrayed the Lebanese civil war through timeless films such as Little Wars (1982) and Out of Life (1991), winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Starring Souraya Baghdadi, the film is written and directed by Nicolas Khoury, and is also written in collaboration with Souraya Baghdadi and the letters of Maroun Baghdadi. Souraya Mon Amour is produced by Jana Wehbe (The Attic Productions), with co-production by Aya Al Blouchi, Marine Vaillant, and Souraya Baghdadi. The film crew includes editor Cherine Debs, Alain Donio as director of photography, Lama Sawaya as sound designer at DB Studios, and the color grading was by Belal Habri at LUCID. The film project took part in several international development platforms and programs, including IDFA Academy, Amman Industry Days (Amman Film Festival), and the Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival (Cinemed) through the Cinemed × Aflamuna pitching, as well as Qumra by the Doha Film Institute. The film was supported by the Doha Film Institute, the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), and Cultural Resource (Mawred).
