Most of the works for next year's Winter Olympics are already finished or close to completion, Giovanni Malagò, the president of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, said on Tuesday.
"There is a lot of encouraging news, starting with the venues and infrastructure," Malagò, the former head of Italian Olympic Committee CONI, told the sixth session of IOC Coordination Commission for Milano Cortina 2026, which opened on Tuesday and runs until Wednesday.
"Much of the work is completed or close to completion".
With 143 days to go, Malagò said he was confident the Games would be a success.
"I feel a special energy, a positive vibe that makes Milano Cortina 2026 a living being," he said.
"It has a charge running through its nervous system: it's our vibe, to borrow from our motto ("IT's Your Vibe"), that can be felt in the corridors and facilities.
"I'm talking about the energy brought by hundreds of young people who, in this final stretch, will be the heart and soul of the Italian Winter Games.
"Their unforgettable experience will extend to the world of sport and other major events in the years to come, and this is the most beautiful legacy I can imagine for Milano Cortina 2026".
