ZAGREB, 19 Aug (Hina) - In June this year, 101 foreign cruise trips were recorded in the Adriatic, one more than in June last year, with the number of passengers down 4.1% to roughly 137,000, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said.
Across the first six months, passenger numbers fell slightly by 1.8% to about 344,000, though cruise ships stayed longer - a total of 580 days, up 10.7% from 2024.
A total of 62 foreign ships operated 252 cruises (3.3% more than last year). Malta-flagged vessels dominated with 70 trips, followed by those under Bahamian (53) and Panamanian (38) flags.
By region, Dubrovnik-Neretva County accounted for nearly half of all visits, followed by Split-Dalmatia (21%), Zadar (16%), Istria (7%), Šibenik-Knin (6%), and Primorje-Gorski Kotar (3%) counties.
Dubrovnik remained the top port with 188 calls, ahead of Split (108), Zadar (72), Korčula (35), Rovinj (31), and Šibenik (30).
