Spain skipper and striker Alvaro Morata is heading for Serie A club Como after an unhappy 12-game and six-goal spell at Turkish side Galatasaray.
The 32-year-old Madrid-born former Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan centre forward posted on social media Tuesday: "Dear Gala fans and the people of Turkey, I want to sincerely thank you for the affection, warmth, and support you have shown me.
You made me feel welcome from day one, and your support has been some of the most extraordinary I have ever experienced in my career.
"Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my experience with the club.
There were times when my word and respect for fundamental values were not kept.
"Until the very end, the commitments made were not honored, to the point that I had no choice but to give up part of my salary and other contractual rights that I had already earned through my work (the published figure is incorrect).
"For me, in life and in work, there are principles that must never be violated, such as respect for the rights of every person.
"Not recognizing and compensating for what has been earned seems unacceptable to me." and contrary to the values of justice and professionalism in which I believe.
"I know these issues are often not addressed openly, but I believe it is right to give the fans the true explanation of what happened. You and the city of Istanbul will always be in my heart, and I wish you the best, today and always," Morata concluded.
"A special thanks also to the coach and his fantastic staff; I am sure they will continue to write Galatasaray's history.
"My most sincere thanks to all my colleagues for the moments we shared and to all the people who work in the training facilities." Como finished 10th in their first season back in the top flight after many years last season.
