ANSA - Athletics: Doualla double gold at U20 Euros

Italy tops medal table in Finland

Italy's 15-year-old sprint sensation Kelly Doualla on Sunday added the 4x100m relay gold to her individual 100m gold at the European Under 20 championships at Tampere in Finland.
With Francesco Crotti winning the triple jump and Matteo Togni winning the 110m hurdle, Italy came top of the medal table with six golds, three silvers and five bronzes.
"This gold medal has a different feel.

It's much better to win with them than to do it alone.

Yes, it's better than my 100m title. Much more adrenaline and much more energy. The three of them ran incredibly powerful legs, and I knew we would win; I was sure we would," commented Doualla, who turned 16 in November and who was born in Pavia of Cameroonian parents.
After her Finnish exploits, sources said the possibility of her being called up for the Senior World Championships in Japan in September is not out of the question, but the federation is not pushing, leaving the decision up to the athlete, her family, and her coach.
