Norcia basilica will reopen on October 30, the ninth anniversary of the 6.6-magnitude earthquake that destroyed almost all of the 14th-century church in the central Italian town in 2016, Reconstruction Commissioner Guido Castelli said on Wednesday.
"On October 30th we will reopen the basilica of Norcia," Castelli said.
"The work will be completed.
We remind everyone that only the facade (of the basilica) remained (after the quake).
"The structural part of the work is already finished, now we are working on the interior.
"October 30th is a symbolic date.
It seems like a nice way to celebrate the ninth year".
