APS - Algeria gains 15 places in ITU ranking

ALGIERS-Algeria gained 15 places in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) ranking according to the Information and Communication Technology Development Index made public last June, thus occupying the 74th place worldwide, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications said Tuesday in a press release.

The ranking emphasizes, in its most recent edition published in June 2025, that Algeria occupies the 74th place globally, thus gaining 15 places compared to last year where it occupied the 89th place.

By referring to the same evaluation and with a total of 86.1 points, Algeria has exceeded the global average value of the IDI, which is 78 points and the average value for the Arab region (77.6 points), as well as the average value for Africa (56.1 points) as well as that of the group of upper middle-income countries (81.1 points).

The Ministry also affirmed that this progress “reflects the results achieved by Algeria, in line with the forward-looking vision of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding the widespread adoption of ICTs across its vast territory for the benefit of all its citizens.”
