Atalanta have chosen Ivan Juric to be the Bergamo side's new coach, with Giampiero Gasperini set to leave the 2023-24 Europa League champions after nine years to take over AS Roma, sources said on Friday.
The final decision to hire the Croatian was made during a meeting on Friday morning featuring Chairman Antonio Percassi, CEO Luca Percassi and Sporting Director Tony D'Amico, the sources said.
The job is a chance for Juric to revive his fortunes after dismal spells at Roma and Southampton last season.
The 49-year-old was sacked by Roma in November after a poor start to the season, took over Southampton a month later and under him they were relegated from the Premier League with seven games of the season still left to play.
Former midfielder Juric played for Gasperini at Genoa and he was his assistant during his spells at Inter and Palermo.
