OSAKA (Japan) - The director of the National Center for Prehistoric, Anthropological and Historical Research (CNRPAH), Slimane Hachi, highlighted the depth of Algerian civilization in a presentation entitled “Algeria, land of beginnings” presented at the Algeria Pavilion of the World Exposition in Osaka, Japan (Expo 2025).
In his presentation, delivered as part of the Cultural Innovation Week for the Future hosted by the Algeria Pavilion, Hachi highlighted the importance of Algeria as a cradle of civilization, in light of archaeological discoveries and historical research, which attest to “the antiquity of human presence in Algeria.”
Discussing the Algerian cultural legacy, the speaker recalled excavations conducted at several historical sites, particularly in Sétif, Jijel, Béjaïa, Mascara, and in the Tassili, known for its rock art that reflects the antiquity and historical richness of this region.
He also reviewed elements of Algeria's tangible and intangible cultural heritage such as raï, Algerian couscous, traditional Algerian women's attire, and the art of zellige.
In this respect, several visitors to the exhibition, present at the conference, expressed their admiration for Algeria's cultural diversity and the historical remains found in the country, witnesses to the depth of its civilization.
Through its participation in Expo 2025 (April 13-October 13), Algeria intends to strengthen its presence on the international scene and forge new partnerships in various fields.
