Direct promotional actions for the promotion of Santorini in the tourist target markets of Greece are being implemented by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), on the initiative of the General Secretary of the organisation, Andreas Fiorentinos, in cooperation with the mayor of the island, Nikos Zorzos.
According to an announcement, since April 24, the editor-in-chief of Germany's leading tourist magazine FVW (fvw.de), Claus Hindebrandt, and the journalist of the equally influential Touristik Aktuell (touristik-aktuell.de), Sylvia Raschke, have been on the island.
The two German journalists, accompanied by Nikoleta Lekanidi, head of the GNTO Germany, who organised the press trip, toured the top sights of the island, visited archaeological sites and wineries and took a sea tour of the caldera and the volcano.
They also met with Zorzos, who gave them an interview, in the presence of the President of the Municipal Council, Georgia Nomikou. The mayor of Santorini presented them the comparative advantages of the island, apart from its rare geomorphology, highlighting its long historical and cultural heritage, the possibilities it offers for hiking tourism, such as the Fira-Oia, Perissa-Ancient Thera trails, etc, its great wine tradition, as well as its excellent agricultural production, including unique products (special varieties of eggplant, tomatoes, etc.).
The journalistic journey will conclude on Monday, while the special features on Santorini will be published in May 2025, highlighting the uniqueness of the island and the excellent preparation of the local authorities for the reception of travellers.
Romanian journalists from Ant 3 - CNN and TukTuk networks, the most important media in the country, also travelled to Santorini during a press trip organised by the Romanian National Tourism Authority from 23 to 26 April.
The relevant reports are expected to be broadcast in the coming weeks, as the Romanian tourist market is particularly interested in the situation on the island ahead of the summer season.
During May, the Greek National Tourism Organisation is planning to implement a series of relevant actions from the markets of Serbia, the United Kingdomm and Ireland, North America, France, the Netherlands and Italy, in order to intensify the promotion of positive messages about Santorini as a top of mind destination and to further strengthen confidence in the international markets.
