TIRANA, April 5/ATA/ The world-famous Italian ship, “Amerigo Vespucci”, considered one of the most beautiful ships in the world, will visit the port of Durrës on April 9 and 10.

Mayor of Durrës Emiriana Sako gave the news in the social media where she emphasized that “this ship will be open to visitors for two days”.

“The “Amerigo Vespucci” is a symbol of Italian maritime pride. In context of its world tour, the next stop will be in Durrës”, emphasized Sako.

Mayor Sako invited citizens to visit it on April 9-10 from 14:00-20:30.

As part of the Giro d’Italia, the “Amerigo Vespucci” stop in Durrës also comes as a promotion of Italian culture worldwide. On board of the ship there will be created a special space where there will be exhibited “Senza Fine” Trophy of the “Giro d’Italia” (Tour of Italy) sports event, one of the most famous sports activities in the world, the Grande Partenza” (Grand Start) of which will be in Albania with the first three stages.

The presentation will be held in the presence of 50 guests from various institutions and the media.

Among the guests who will deliver the speech of honor will be the Commander of “Amerigo Vespucci”, Prime Minister Edi Rama, CEO of RCS Sports & Events Paolo Bellino, representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the Italian Navy, as well as the Italian Ambassador to Albania.

Since 1931, this sailing ship remains one of the jewels in the precious crown of the Italian Navy. The "Amerigo Vespucci" is a tall ship of the Italian Navy (Marina Militare) named after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Her home port is La Spezia, Italy, and she is in use as a training ship./k.s/p.s./
