TIRANA, April 2/ATA/ Durana Tech Park opened its doors today with the awarding of certificates to its first residents.
Attending the event, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that certification of the first residents in Durana is the first concrete product of a vision that seemed utopian.
He added that there has been high interest from foreign companies, from different countries of the world, to become part of Durana Tech Park.
“What is a nice surprise for us is not simply the number of foreign companies or the diversity of the map from the US to Estonia, Germany to Asia, but the fact that there is high interest from academic institutions,” Rama emphasized.
However, Rama said, our goal is not only to have as many foreign companies in the Park as possible, but to engage as many Albanian talents as possible.
The prime minister noted that the government has supported some of the startups that have now turned into new companies and become members of the Park.
The prime minister also said that the process has begun for three well-known Italian universities and there is also interest from other universities.
“This makes us look a little at the regulatory framework to give academic institutions the opportunity to enter this digital society,” Rama said further on.
Through strategic support for small and medium-sized enterprises, Durana Tech Park aims to attract foreign and domestic investments, while promoting the development of products and services with high added value. With a focus on research, innovation and production in the technology sector, this technology park is designed to create a pool of skilled experts and drive economic growth.
Durana Tech Park offers a very favorable tax regime, specifically designed to maximize the profit of resident companies in the techpark: 0% VAT and 0% profit tax for resident companies, as a major advantage compared to the region, where VAT and profit tax can reach up to 20% and 15%, respectively. 0% personal income tax for 10 years for employees. The social contributions for the employees are limited to 95 euros/month, with a social and health insurance contribution of only 3.4%, bringing significant savings in labor costs.
Durana Tech Park is located in Xhafzotaj. The location is strategic due to its proximity (15 minutes) to the Port of Durres (the largest in Albania and one of the largest in the Adriatic) and Tirana International Airport (20 minutes).
It also guarantees access to the largest and most qualified labor markets in the country (Tirana and Durres), where there are concentrated 75% of higher education institutions and research centers.
The area is quite large, about 26 ha. This property is divided into three separate parts that are not directly connected, although they are close to each other. /j.p/p.s./
