NNA - Marking International Women's Day, Lebanon's First Lady Nehmat Aoun addressed the Lebanese women & young ladies saying, "Lebanon is steadfast with you, and thanks to you and to your faith, it will remain steadfast because the heart of citizenship beats in you and because you are the ones who carried Lebanon on your shoulders." 

Aoun's words came during a gathering she organized on the occasion at Baabda Presidential Palace under the headline, "You are the Heart of Citizenship", which brought together 31 Lebanese women and young ladies who distinguished themselves in their giving and facing challenges by undertaking individual initiatives based on their national sense and responsibility.
The attendees came from different occupational fields and sectors, such as health and nursing, aviation, providing assistance during war, care and social work, the Red Cross and Civil Defense, art and culture, mental health, municipal work, technology and the creation of purposeful platforms, the distribution of medicines, animal protection, reconstruction, and sports. 

In a brief word, Aoun confirmed her determination to work to activate the decision to declare November 4th of each year as "Lebanese Women's Day", for Lebanon cannot continue nor rise without them. She hailed all Lebanese women's valuable role and contributions in all phases and challenging circumstances that the country has endured. 

The organized gathering came in recognition of the courage and commitment of Lebanese women during crises and their role in strengthening citizenship.
